Northwoods Rustic Creations is the dream and passion of Steve Uren. A woodworker (and fisherman...which is where the fish logo comes from!) since about birth, Steve has designed and created unique furniture for years. As his artist statement explains, he watched his grandfather work with wood all throughout his life and this was his inspiration.

Steve formed Northwoods Rustic Creations (originally named Birchwood by Steve to reflect the name of the family camp) in 2001. What began as a part-time hobby quickly became a full time business. The committment to creating a business that meets the needs of each customer and produces a quality, original product has attracted customers from around the country. Originally, Steve's style was more rustic. Cedar log furniture, "cabin decor" and typical log sided dressers and beds were a specialty. Over time his style has evolved and current work retains the rustic qualities, always accenting the beauty of the wood, but modern flairs and great originality are seen in each piece.

Northwoods Rustic Creations is located in Marquette, Michigan in the central Upper Peninsula of Michigan.  Known for long, hard winters, unbeatable summers (if you can get past the bird-sized mosquitos and black flies!) and miles and miles of beautiful woods, the Upper Peninula is a woodworkers dream setting.  To learn about current threats to this outdoor paradise that we should ALL be concerned about, please click here.

Northwoods Rustic Creations products are displayed at a number of galleries throughout the United States.

Steve also participates in art shows in the midwest and Florida.  He has been awarded several shows including "Best of Furniture" (2004, 2005) and "Best of Wood" (2006) at Art On The Rocks in Marquette.  Most recently he was awarded "Best of 3-D Artwork" at the Sanibel Island Art Show in Sanibel Island, Florida.
